Aloha,
Did you update your nameservers with your domain’s registrar to point to your hosting account at HostGator? if going to yourdomain.com sends you to your domain registrar’s page it sounds like you need to do this.
If you are not sure of the nameservers for your account you should check any ‘welcome’ email you got from HostGator, or contact their support and they can provide you with the nameservers to use.
Cheers,
Thanks for your help. I did it as first step. After reading your kind post I went to my control panel in the web I bought the domain and I checked everything was Ok so I dont know whats wrong. Supose when you install wordpress you have to see a default dashboard or something like that on your web.
Any idea?
Were you aware that it can take up to 72 hours for any domain name changes to be fully propagated?
72 hours? I`m not sure, going to see…
ok, DNS propagation time? As you can see Im an absolutelly beginner on this. So Im going to wait a couple of days.
Thanks for your very kind help and patient
DNS propagation time?
DNS = Domain name servers. Special severs that keep a record of what site & domain name is hosted where.
There are millions of these servers around the world. They update their records every couple of hours but it can take up to 3 days for them all to update across the globe. This is called “propagation”. Until this process is complete, it’s hit & miss as to whether your ISP’s DNS has updated yet or not. So you may just want to chill out over the weekend and try again on Monday.
