I’ve been trying to upgrade to v3.0 and when I tried upgrading automatic and I got the following message:
    Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-3.0.zip.

    Unpacking the update.

Abort class-pclzip.php : Missing zlib extensions

It appears it has to do with unzipping. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thanks

    Regards.

    Jon

  • Looks like your server is missing a critical piece of software. Try contacting your hosts and giving them a copy of the error message.

I host the webserver myself. The problem is I cannot find what piece of the php code I need and which module it pertains to. Is there a log file that is kept? I know it has something to do with the automatic update of any module (seems like a zip procedure).

Odd. Did you compile php yourself? Seems like it was compiled without zlib support.

No it’s a SuSE Linux Enterprise server, so it does this on its own. Anyway, I did resolve that issue I needed to restart Apache. I thought I had, I ran php -i to see that the modules were indeed installed.

    Thanks
