• I run a dedicated server with ~500 websites. I had to update a few plugins and all I get is something like:

    >Downloading update from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/plugin_name.zip (< example)
    >Unpacking the update…
    >The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

I tried several sites with different plugins all the same error. So I thought it was a problem with my hosting and I tried with a customers’s site which is with HostGator: SAME THING!

So I went offline and tried on my local MAMP install (which is flawless): same error!!

Never happened this before in many years of WordPress! Any ideas please??

  • I’m getting the same thing when I try to update plugins… it seems like the actual wordpress plugin repository servers are down.

Also, when I tried to add a new plugin I got this message:
“An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.”

Hopefully they will resolve this soon!

From my side adding new plugins works just fine, it’s just updating.
