Cannot Sync when item added to both platforms

-When we add a product to WooCommerce which is already in Square, the plugin will not sync and gets stuck on a loop.
-When we add a product to Woo that is NOT in Square, it syncs and adds to square.
I found an old support ticket where the response from developers was that they were aware of this issue and it was supposed to have been resolved several months ago however this is clearly not the case as we are experiencing it right now.
It is not an option to delete all the items from Square that we need added to Woo. System of record cannot be changed as the website owner has not entered categories correctly in Square – which has been resolved and after testing is verified as NOT the issue with the sync – and there are 1900 items which will not be sold on the website so this is not a viable option.
I am interested in receiving answers to two main queries:
1) The issue is clearly a bug in the plugin. When can I expect this to be resolved or at least acknowledged?
2) On the old ticket, there as link to a workaround or solution whilst the devs waited for the Square update. That link is now a 404. What is the workaround while this issue is fixed?

I was receiving support with this as we worked to find out what was wrong with the sync (and then I discovered this is the issue) however devs seem to have stopped replying. I have started a new thread as the issue has been identified, so we can only work on the actual issue at hand.
This is extremely important to my business, as the whole website has been built around the ability to sync with Square. Attention and resolution is appreciated.
