Hi,
Thanks for your help. It has taken me ages to work through all this and I have found nothing. I downloaded everything, virus scanned it, nothing.
I will reinstal all my work under a new user name. But first I will need to gain access to the website http://speechforawedding.com/wp-admin
As said at the beginning, when I log in as before I get the error message
“You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”
I have checked all file permissions, and they are all set at 644. All folders are at 755. So all I need is entry.
Anyway of getting round this “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” anybody seen this before?
Many thanks, Gordon.

Why? All of your content is in your database which can be accessed via your hosts.
Thanks Esmi, that was quick. How do I send you details. Gordon
Sorry? I didn’t ask you for any details.
Do you mean just get them to re install it.
No. I’d suggest that you backup the database and carry out a completely new install of WordPress, then restore the backup to the new database.
I agree,
Help me here though, I have a few databases, how can I tell which database will belong to that blog; and how can I add that database to a new instalation?
This is new ground for me, but this could save a lot of problems.
Thanks esmi, Gordon

Have a look in your wp-config.php file. The database name will be in there.
Thanks Esmi,
t is so obvious once you know.
Database is BD123456_7 say. OK.
Now this is I hope the last question. On a new instalation, how do I import that particular database and delete the one Wp allocates you,
Fantastico does not allow you to specify which database to use, nor let you name it which would help clarity.
Nearly there, Gordon.
You have three options:
1. Install with Fantastico and then edit the wp-config.php file after the install is complete to point the new install to the old database.
2. Install with Fantastico and then restore a backup copy of the old database into the new database.
3. Re-upload a completely fresh copy of WordPress manually using FTP and then create a wp-config.php file that points to the old database
This is good,

This sounds the easiest
2. Install with Fantastico and then restore a backup copy of the old database into the new database.
This is new to me, and sounds complex.

I have read about this and do not feel to comfortable about it.
Number 1 looks the best option for me.
I lke number 2 the best but do not know how or where the db are.
Number 3, a bit technical. I have only used fantastico but I will look further into it.
Thanks Esmi, I was really worried about this; but you have given me good options.
All the best Gordon.
