Cannot edit theme files with permissions??

    I was hoping to use this plugin for staging a copy of my wp project where I could use the staged files to try edits to the theme on the server without worrying about the live site.

    The duplication worked fine however I am unable to edit any of the theme files in the staging site. I have tried changing permissions to 777 but I cant seem to make that happen. currently everything in the staging site is set to 755, why is that necessary?
