Cannot edit page
-
I can’t edit my blog page. There’s no “edit this page” button at the bottom, and when I make edits nothing shows up. There actually seems to be no content column at all.

Hi, backwardsd, & welcome to the WordPress support forum. First, a site url would be helpful. Secondly, please confirm–do you have a separate home & posts (blog) page? If so, then what you’re really doing is editing the posts for the blog page, not the page itself. The blog page really only ought to be blank except for the title.
yes they are separate, I see what you mean. however i just set the posts page to a different one, and i still cant edit it.
You don’t want to edit the page, backwardsd. You just want to go to ‘Posts > Add New’ to add a new post, or you want to click on a post’s link to edit it. The “posts page” is really nothing but a placeholder. Forget it’s even there. Just edit posts. I realize this is confusing–you’re not the first person to get stuck on this concept.
Do you understand now?
I understand completely, and yes I do want to edit the page. I want to put maybe an image at the top and some information at the bottom with all the posts in between. Is there any way I can do this? Maybe by editing the CSS or something?
backwardsd, if it were I, this is what I’d do.
1) I’d have no page selected as the posts page in ‘Settings > Reading’, i.e., I’d unselect the Blog page.
2) I’d download the Show Posts or similar plugin (the 1 I’m thinking of is available at https://wordpress.org/plugins/show-posts/ & no, I have no affiliation w/the authors of any kind).
3) I’d edit the blog page to contain the information you want, & I’d choose the ‘Show Posts’ page template. Choose the options for the posts you wish to show, & republish.I did steps 1 and 2 and I still can’t edit the page.
wait nevermind I got it.
If you feel you’ve got this resolved, would you please be so kind as to mark it as such, so that the volunteers understand your problem is resolved & we can feel free to help others who need it?
Thank you.
Ok now it’s not showing the post titles.
Have u checked the plugin’s settings?
Yes. If it helps I also checked the box to use the current theme’s native display. I would be fine with the show posts custom display, (which does show the titles) but I want to be able to edit the color of the top of the post, where the title is.
Well, this plugin is written by the same folks who write the Weaver Xtreme theme (again, no affiliation) at weavertheme.com. That theme does allow you to do quite a lot of customization, though I don’t know if you’d be able to do what you want w/o buying the Plus version. Your other option is to create a child theme & edit the css of the post title part.
Well, I’m using the Comicpress theme. What exactly would I need to do the CSS?
backwards, I’m afraid I’m more of a technician than a designer. I suspect you’ll need to make a child theme & put your changes there, else they’ll likely be overwritten when your theme is updated. It looks like there’s also a Comic Companion &/or a comic manager that allows you to style stuff, but I’m uncertain if these are paid addons or if they’re free. Nor do I really understand the differences between these 2 plugins. The homepage for this theme is comicpress.org if you require additional information regarding those. Furthermore, it appears they have a forum where you can ask questions regarding theme modifications. I would refer you there, as these are the folks who possess the expertise to answer questions about that particular theme & the addon plugins. Those of us on the support forums can answer questions of a more general nature, but when it comes to specifics of a theme or plugins, you’re best off going to the author’s site.
ok then. thanks
