• I have an old website and I don’t want to change the theme at this point, but I’d like to edit the CSS. Whenever I click on the “Edit CSS” in the “Appearance” tab, and make changes to the CSS in “Additional CSS” area and try to publish it, I get the error message: “Looks like something’s gone wrong. Wait a couple seconds, and then try again.”

I’ve tried over and over again, deleted the cache, and deactivated all the plug-ins, but nothing helps. I also tried editing the file style.css on the back end, but it gets overridden by the “Additional CSS” on the front end. So, I can’t edit any CSS. Please help!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello,

I have checked same on localhost, but same is working.
Please check error logs and file permission.
Also might be a WordPress version issue.

    Thanks
    Suman W.

Try looking at the Tools > Site Health page to see what it says about how your site is configured.

Joy, I checked Site Health. It says my version of PHP requires an update, and that it’s a critical issue. So, I will figure out how to update it and post whether it helps or not. Thank you for the suggestion. Even if it doesn’t fix my issue, it needs to be done anyway!

Suman, I have the current version of WordPress, but the problem may be that my theme is so old (2012). I’m afraid if I try a newer theme, it will mess up everything on my website, and I don’t have time to redesign it right now.

Thank you both for your help.
