cannot download backup

    I have done a manual backup 2 times but I cannot download the backup. It times out ever time – so far I have tried about 12/13 times. I have checked my internet connection and there are no issues there with a download speed of 17.39.

    I either get a failed notification or a Network timeout. I experience no other issues with uploads or downloads from other sites.

    Hi threeleaf,

    How big is the backup? We’ve seen it time out before on other servers because we stream the download through PHP and it has a timeout (yours is 30 seconds.) The bigger the backup file the more chance of it happening.

    We are working on a method to download via FTP (which you can’t currently) and also to fix the downloading so it doesn’t need PHP. But we’re still in beta with the feature.

    Jason – thanks – the backup is 130 meg. Is that timeout something I can change ?

    Also, its too large to send by email and I cannot download it…. not really sure what else I can do to use the plugin.

    Hi threeleaf,

    If you are using online backup we can increase the quota. Just email your username for Online Backup Settings to support “at” backup-technology.co.uk and ask for an increase. 130MB is definitely possible – we do discretionary increases and that should be fine.

    I’m just going to get a new version released shortly. Once I’ve done that we can work on your download problem and I’ll give you some test versions you can try if that is OK? We’ve rewritten the download stuff which makes it avoid this kind of issue so we can get it finalised and tested and then let you see if it works for you.

    Hi threeleaf,

    It is also worth you updating to 2.2.16 when it is launched and trying the download using that as there was some tweaks in it to the downloading, but nothing major.
