Latest version of wordpress running on Nginx and 2.0.76 displays:

“Flash slideshow support has been removed from NextGEN Gallery. Please see this blog post for more information.”

Actually, this breaks our entire install – in the “posts” section you cannot add tags, cannot switch to “visual” edit mode and more. So our writers cannot post.

In addition, rolling back to 2.0.74 does not cause the message to vanish. (deactivated, replaced files w/ 2.0.74 then re-activated, nothing happens).

Please tell me how to troubleshoot more and submit proper “bug report” as I have never done that. I cannot give FTP access unfortunately.

Also using gallery optimizer and photoswipe plugins.

We fixed by deactivating the gallery, now every gallery post doesn’t work but at least our writers can post.

Thanks for any urgent help. Actually, everything worked fine up until this update. It would be a huge hassle to systematically look one by one for plugin conflicts because this is a live install so any help would be great.

In fact, we see some people reporting this bug on new installs w/ no other plugins installed.

    Thanks!

  • Noticed this very same problem on Feb 28. Gory details follow:
Client called me to say something about the Flash slideshow error message. I checked and saw it was just “information” and not an error message. BUT I could not dismiss it. My client then brought to my attention the bigger issue:
Nothing appears in the edit window of any post.
I looked into it and found that content appears only if I am in HTML mode but not in Visual mode.
AND I can’t switch from HTML to Visual. The tab is not behaving as a button.
Closer inspection showed the content is there in the Visual edit pane BUT it is all white text on a white background. Impossible to work with because you can’t tell what you are editing untll you “select all.”
    My temporary solution:

    • Disable NextGEN Gallery
    • Disable NextGEN Gallery Optimizer

Now the site works fine . . . BUT . . . no NextGEN Gallery.

Problem was solved for us by disabling gallery “optimizer” plugin

    Thanks, Zoomsan
That works here also. Kind of calls into question the first line of the plugin’s description:
“The essential add-on for the NextGEN Gallery WordPress plugin.”
I just noticed this on the Optimizer main plugin page:
    “Author’s note:
I’m afraid Optimizer v2.0 is not currently compatible with the major NextGEN Gallery (v2.0.7x) update, released on the 19th of February 2015.”
    So there we go.

@zoomsan & @innov8iv – Thanks for the updates. I’m sure the other author will get this sorted out as soon as he is able … he also knows we are open to assisting as the need may arise as well.

I see I’m not the only one with this problem. Clean install, no other plugins activated, tables deleted or optimized. I also cannot upload an image or add a gallery to a page. html5 interface fails. This is a bigger problem than ever.

davidpreiser – I found the problem was solved as soon as I killed the Optimizer.

I see another thread now where you say it’s a bug and will be removed in a future plugin update, so I consider that resolved for now. I have another more serious problem and have created a new topic. Attempting to send a bug report through NextGen website gives me an error message so I’m trying here.

@davidpreiser – We have been experiencing severe server issues for the last week or so, please be patient in using the support/bug report forms. They are working but with these server issues we are experiencing intermittent connection/resolution problems.
