cannot create assignments

WordPress 4.3.1 running Sylvia theme.

Just starting out to set Namaste! course site up for our courses.

I have one course at the moment and I wanted to learn how to use assignments.

I can go through the process of creating an assignment but once I hit the create link at the bottom it goes back to the assignment creation page but there is no assignment. No assignment is created and I cannot find any information on how to fix this problem.
