Another user recommended I post here about this issue, so here I am:

I logged into a site I manage and got this error message:

“WARNING: Your login has been allowed because you have previously logged in from the same IP, but you will be blocked if your IP changes. The password you are using exists on lists of passwords leaked in data breaches. Attackers use such lists to break into sites and install malicious code. Please change your password. Learn More”

When I go to change the password it’s got me at “wp-admin/profile.php”

Scroll down, “generate password”, enter a new password. press “update profile”. Ok.

However, when I got to login at site.com/wp-login.php?loggedout=true

The new password doesn’t work. The old one does. I’m not a professional web designer, I just do updates and try to keep things running. Why can’t I update the password?

  • Hi @wesleydysart

Not being able to change your user account password via WordPress Dashboard doesn’t sound to be related to Wordfence plugin, you might need to check any of these ways to “reset your password“. Also, try reverting back to the default WordPress theme and deactivate your plugins -temporarily- then try resetting the password.

    Thanks.
