cache and new site

Hello,

This may be a more general web design question rather than wordpress but here’s my question:

I just finished reworking a site from static html to the wordpress system. Even though the new wordpress site is up and the old html files have been deleted from the server, when people browse to the site they are still seeing the old pages. I’m assuming this is a browser cache issue? Is there any way that I can change this? I find that a lot of people have no idea how to clear their history or cache so there must be some way I can influence this, right?
