I tried to activate browser caching but I got the error code:

“Browser Caching is not working properly:

    – Your server may not have the “expires” module enabled (mod_expires for Apache, ngx_http_headers_module for NGINX)
    – Another plugin may be interfering with the configuration”

I’ve tried to check everything but I can’t find what is causing the error.
    What should I do?

  • Hi @abonny,

Browser Caching is a server-side thing and Hummingbird tries to apply suggested rules in .htaccess (for Apache) but in order for these rules to work your server needs to have “expires” module enabled and to allow these changes to be applied via .htaccess.

Can you please get in touch with your hosting provider and ask them if the “expires” module is enabled, and in addition to that if they allow browser caching values to be applied via .htaccess, if not ask them to apply the rules for you to address Google suggested values and that should be it.

Let us know how it goes.

    Cheers,

Thank you for your answer. I contacted the support for my hosting provider (GoDaddy on the WordPress hosting plan) and they told me that their back-end team takes care of the caching and that the user is not allowed to use a different system for browser caching.

    Thank you for your help.
