Have you looked at the other site to get a feel for how established and how motivated they are to grow with it? Was it a one-off idea they lost interest in or are they well established and highly networked?
Yes, I have looked at the other site, and I believe she hasn’t posted anything since August. We’re both in the same general field of communications. But I’m more concerned about “legalility” (neither name is copyrighted?!) or “what is appropriate” issues.
It’s not as if the term, first person this or that, is unique. But I’m in the writing biz, and I’m aware of plagiarism issues, so that’s where I’m coming from. So, I want to do the right thing, I don’t want to over-react or overlap.
I don’t really know if she’s highly networked. While I’ve had my own web site for several years, and I’m on LinkedIn, I’m also planning on updating my Facebook page (needs work and focus) and signing up with Twitter. But I want to resolve this blog issue first.
Also, if it seems that it would be appropriate for me to change my blog’s name (?), is that a big production with WordPress.org. Do I have to start all over, or could I just do a name change?
I really appreciate your feedback.
Sally
