BEWARE: WP Super Cache DOES NOT work with SimplePress!

I just went through a week of hell trying to figure out why the registration stopped working on my WP site with a SP forum. I spent untold hours on every conceivable forum,almost a dozen emails with Dreamhost, going to parts of my WP install I’d never been before, combing the WordPress: Missing Manual book again and again and again, and nothing worked… until I went onto the SP forums and begged for some help. That’s how I figured it out.

I’m sure there was some expert way to fix this rather than just deleting WPSC… but I have spent over two years and hundreds of hours learning everything I can as a user, and “expert” developer-side status is a world apart. It is not the same as understanding the user side, questions of how to handle themes and users and permissions and admins and posts and permalinks and layout and comments, how to create a static front page, how to modify a style sheet, etc etc etc. I know those things. But they weren’t enough. If you are not an expert, please save yourself dozens of hours of misery, and don’t install WP Super Cache with SimplePress. I’m not sure where else to post this, but maybe my miserable experience can help others.
