BB Press modifications

Guys,

does anyone know how i can make modifications in the BB PRESS language file without losing those modifications if the plugin is updated? i have tried logging in on the BB press forums but unable to.

do i need to create a separate child theme for bbpress or would my existing twenty twelve child theme do?
