avatar showing up problem

I have a problem with smilies showing up as avatars in comments on my blog http://www.simplerliving.ca I have avatars DISabled and I’m not using any smiley plugins. Any idea as to what is causing this? I haven’t encountered this type of thing in my other blog and can’t find a reference to it anywhere. I appreciate any help as these smilie-avatar thingies make the comments look like crap. :\
