ATOM 0.3 in WP 2.0 ?!?

The upgrade was quick and smooth, but the main thing I’ve noticed so far is that the new Wp uses ATOM 0.3! Are you kidding? It was officially replaced a few months ago, when the WP was at the stage of beta 1.5 still-do-not-use! And there was a temp fix at the time, but it’s no longer the case, because http://feedvalidator.org/ does not support atom 0.3 anymore. And as I remember, one of the mods said to me a few months ago that WP 1.6 /2.0 will use the new version of ATOM feed, so what happened? thx.
