Arranging text alongside thumbnails

Hi folks,

I’m very new to WordPress, and I’m having trouble figuring out how to run text alongside a thumbnail image. It seems I can place the image at the top or very bottom. But I’m having trouble placing it to the side of the text or amid the text. Could anyone help?
