    hi friends,
I have a wordpress website installed on a dedicated server, and the seriously simple podcasting plugin installed. I have filled all the sections correctly, image with the right size, etc, but I´m getting this error when adding the feed to apple podcast connect:

Podcast artwork must be between 1400 x 1400 and 3000 x 3000 pixels, JPG or PNG, in RGB color space, and hosted on a server that allows HTTP head requests.
Can’t submit your feed. There is no category tag in your feed, or the category tag is empty.
Can’t submit your feed. There is no explicit tag in your feed, or the explicit tag is empty.

I have total control over my dedicated server, what do I have to do to allow for HTTP head requests?

other than that, I have setup the categories and subcategories in the plugin settings so Im also surprised to be getting those tag errors as well

and I have the latest version of the plugin, I downloaded it and installed it a few days ago

thank you for your help 🙂

As someone who ran into the same issue: Regarding the image complaint, try first to make the image smaller than about 520 kb (compressor.io might help). That fixed the whole thing for me. It’s a requirement that Apple doesn’t communicate at all. HTTP head requests shouldn’t be an issue in most cases.

Category tags and explicit tags: Besure you’ve got the additional Apple fields ticked on (plugin settings, general), then they should be added to your episodes and you can fill them out as needed.

    Hope this helps 🙂

Hi @timokamp thanks for the guidance here, and agree with all you said. @javismiles the “HTTP Head” error message from Apple can apply to a lot of things. I’d try running your feed URL through these two feed validators: castfeedvalidator.com and podba.se – each of these are slightly different but together give you a very nice global view of your feed. If there are any issues there it will give you guidance on how to resolve them.

Thank you so much for your great help and support

thing is I already did those things:
    * I already had selected these 2 options:
    a) Turn this on to enable the iTunes iOS11 specific fields on each episode.
    b) Turn this on to enable player meta data underneath the player. (download link, episode duration and date recorded)

and my image was 1400×1400 and 587kb, now I have changed it to be just 350kb

in the feed details I have filled in

title, subtitle, author, 3 categories and subcategories, description, a 350kb cover image, owner data, language, copyright, etc

in the episode I have filled in:
duration, file size, date recorded, iTunes Episode Number, iTunes Episode Title (Exclude Your Series / Show Number):, iTunes Season Number:, iTunes Episode Type:

But I keep getting the very same errors when entering the feed at:
    https://podcastsconnect.apple.com/my-podcasts/new-feed

I have a powerful dedicated ovh server with total control, if I knew what I had to tweak to fix this I could do it immediately

to see if you can help me further I put here my entire current feed (I just changed my data with temp text):

looks like trying to put the text of my feed to show you how it looks is triggering the moderation system, let me try to put the message without that part:

(not attaching text of feed this time to see if this way the moderation system is not triggered)

I archived that non-XML one after clearing and fixing the initial response from the moderation queue.

    Thank you @timokamp, @podcastmotor, @tobifjellner

    the issue is that before posting in here, I already tried those feed validators, already did it, and they report that Im missing a bunch of stuff that is indeed in the feed and I am not missing them at all; so im totally puzzled;

I would be happy to send you the direct link to my feed via private message if any of you has time to give it a look,

I really want to prepare my podcast and I was so excited to use this plugin, plus I have a great dedicated server, and I just dont know what to do because those feed validators dont tell me or give me any suggestions as to how to fix the errors they report, and in my feed all the info is there, what they say is missing is actually all there

    thank you

Edit: I read your post wrong, and you probably did everything listed below already.
    Please disregard if so.

Podcast -> settings – > General -> if you scroll down, is the “Enable iTunes fields” tickbox activated?

And if so, check on your Podcast posts (below the post itself):
    – Is there NO checkmark on “prevent from showing up on itunes & google play”
    – Is there an Itunes Episode title
    – Is there an Itunes Season number (if wanted)
    – Is there an Itunes Episode Type selected (e.g. “Full, for normal episodes)

(These are only available after iTunes fields are activated via settings, I think.)

Maybe you’ll need to reupload your cast again after these are activated? I’m not sure, since I also only just started using SSP >.<

All I really do know is that I had the same HTTP/Image error, and just fixing the image size at least fixed that one for me, after making sure the correct image is grabbed by the feed itself (there’s multiple areas in the plugin to select cover art, and iirc it’s the cover art under settings/feed.
I’m really sorry if I’m not of much actual help here 🙁
