Apperance/Editor is not available
-
Hello,
I realized that there is no Editor sub-menu in the Appearance menu. I can’t find it anywhere. where could it be?
if it’s relevant I use Virtue premium theme at my website slowcraft.it and having asked the theme support I got the reply that it has nothing to do with the theme installation.

Are you currently logged in as an Administrator? Can you view the Users section of your blog’s Dashboard and confirm that Administrator is your listed user role there?
yes, I’ve checked that and confirm I’m logged in as an Administrator.
Ok, is this a WordPress Multisite installation?
If not, check your wp-config.php file for the following line:
define('DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT', true);yes, this wordpress is not a multisite installation.
I’ve checked wp-config.php file and the quoted line is in order, i.e.
define(‘DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT’, true);any other ideas what could be the reason?
thank you!At the Users section of your blog’s Dashboard, are you sure it says Administrator next to your username?
Does the site use any sort of user role or membership management plugin?
oh yes, i’m sure. I’ve got there only 2 users both of which are enabled for ADMINISTRATOR role. here is the quote form the Users section:
Username Name E-mail Role Posts
aliya aliya xxxx Administrator 5
laura laura xxxx Administrator 2no, we haven’t installed any user role or membership management plugin. in any case I remember we had this bug (absence of Editor) from the very begining (not sure if after of before the theme unstallation).
thank you
Oh, you’ve had it since the beginning?
Do you see the editor if you temporarily switch to the Twenty Fourteen theme?
If not, which plugins do you currently have installed?
I activated the Twenty Fourteen theme temporarily, still no Editor in the Apperance menu…
here below is the list of all my plugins installed:
Black Studio TinyMCE Widget
Cyclone Slider Pro
Duplicate Post
Google Analytics Dashboard for WP
Kadence Slider
Page Builder by SiteOrigin
Paymill
Polylang
Revolution Slider
Shortcodes Ultimate
WooCommerce
WooCommerce Customizer
WooCommerce TradeGecko Integration
Woo Product Importer
WooThemes Helper
WordPress SEO
WP-SpamShieldThanks for listing that, I see quite a few suspects in there.
First, can you navigate directory to example.com/wp-admin/theme-editor.php (obviously replacing example with your site)?
If not, would you please quote the error you see?
it doesn’t give me the error but automativally redirects me to wp-admin login page (even if I’m logged in already)
thank youWell that’s certainly unexpected. Ok, let’s rule out the core files at least.
Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the
wp-config.phpfile and the/wp-content/directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.hi,
I deleted all the wordpress files (except the /wp-content/ folder, wp-config.php and htaaccess file) and uploaded the new ones that have downloaded from the wordpress website.
sorry to say but still no Editor in the appearance menu.
Are there any other users on the blog besides yourself? Anyone else an Administrator, and any unusual user roles?
as I mentioned above we’ve got there only 2 users both of which are enabled for ADMINISTRATOR role. here is the quote form the Users section:
Username Name E-mail Role Posts
aliya aliya xxxx Administrator 5
laura laura xxxx Administrator 2both of Administrators face the issue of the absence of Editor. we have no any unusual user roles.
thank youHm, fascinating.
Try changing the permissions of the theme files that you want to edit to 666.
