Michael
I am logged on as “PenMaster” while reading and replying to your post. When I follow the where is my API key instructions I go to my dashboard and the sentence in my profile says akismet is not active you must enter your API. I scroll down to the link that says you can see API here and I am taken to a logon box that will not accept my “PenMaster” username. Do I have an account? I can’t figure out why my user name will not work.
Should I open another account?
Thanks
PenMaster
You have to be over at http://wordpress.com on your profile page over there to grab your API code. Sound slike you’re at your blog’s profile page looking for the code.

No I am actually at WP logged in as “PenMaster” taken from
the upper right hand corner of the page. From the post above the one you responded to there is a link to
the WP faq: Where is my API
“To find your key go to your dashboard and then click on “Profile” (or “My Account”) and you should see a sentence that says Your WordPress.com API key is: “
but on my dashboard at http://meandering-pen.com it says
aksimit is not activated you must put in your API.
Back to WP faq “Where is my API” at the bottom of the page is a link:
When I click on it takes me to a login screen which will not accept my login credentials. It claims there is no such username as the one I am entering??? And the same one
I am already logged in to on another screen. I have double checked my profile and reset my password, no change
Thanks

This is WordPress.ORG.
Not to be confused, at all, with WordPress.COM.
*if* you’ve ever registered for a WordPress.COM account, you’ll have an API. You’ll never find your API key at your blog or here at WordPress.ORG.
Only at WordPress.COM
If you’ve not yet registered for a free account at WordPress.COM, please do so.

Thank You very much
I knew there had to be something simple that I was overlooking. I’ll check it out.
