• Hello,
I just found out I need to host my own blog to customize it. Right now it’s on WordPress’ servers.

I am running Ubuntu Linux. I need to install apache so I can host my own blog, but I have no idea how to do it. I’ve fetched it from Synaptic, and when I try typing “apache” in the console it says something about no ports being available. Nothing I do gives me an easy way to set it up.

Is this something easy to explain? I’m not exactly a Linux Guru, so anything that requires a lot of knowledge of commands is not my speed! 🙂

    Thanks in advance,
    Luke.

Let me put it this way then: how do I INSTALL WORDPRESS on my local system. I have trouble with MYSQL, too. I don’t know how to do the step in the instructions that says to create a MYSQL database.

You have pre-reqs that say you need PHP, Apache and MySQL before you can install.

The ubuntu forums can likely help you with the pre-reqs.

Don’t try to get smart here.
Learn how to set up your server and after that come back for WP support. I thought I was clear.
