How about recreating a WP-people plugin for 202? The actual version lost it with 1.5. Popup windows don’t need to be themed, simple HTML windows would be fine. Would consider a donation for a working version.

Actually WP 2 already has the little ‘about yourself’ box.. I imagine it could just use information you put in this, instead of having to use another plugin just to manage bios. What do you think?

Since I have not seen an example of the original hack in action, I am not sure exactly what it was displaying.
Why would you have to use another plugin to handle the extra data, when you already have a way to have a description for the user?
Are you talking about listing out multiple fields in the popup? like:
Name:
Age:
Location:
Etc? If so, I can see where it might come in handy to have the extra fields.
I just wrote up a plugin that turns user names into links which display a popup containing the information in the ‘about me’ box.
I added some CSS for the popup window…
Any thoughts? Is it what you were looking for? or no?
Thanks for the plugin Aleister, and your work is appreciated. However, with the wordpress people plugin, you didn’t have to be a wordpress user to have a profile. It could be use to identify anyone. That is what I liked most about it. Good work though!
