• I just moved wordpress from a development environment to a live environment, but my web host doesn’t allow me to copy certain files like .htaccess for example. I’m not sure if that is the problem but for some reason all of my internal pages are 404 now. The home page of wordpress works fine but no internal pages are accessible.

  • Sounds like not being able to copy/edit the .htaccess file on your live server is the problem.

Do you have pretty permalinks turned on in your development environment?

I would try and reset permalinks

In Settings Permalinks select default and save see if your pages open if they then go back to custom structure and save

No need transfer .htaccess as wordpress will rewrite the code in .htaccess
