All categories showing zero posts

    After importing a large XML WordPress file in a new install, I go to “Posts->Cateories” and saw that my categories have been imported. But they all show they contain zero posts. I have many posts in many categories, so they should not show zero. I look at my list of posts, and they were in the right categories.

    try re-saving your permalinks

    At first I thought it might be that. Perhaps I should have set my permalinks BEFORE I imported.

    Anyways, I figured out that if I click on the “0” which is a link, it will actually pull up a list of posts for that category. And if I just do a “quick edit” on one of those posts, then WordPress recalculates the count and is no longer “0”. The nice things is that it recounts for all posts in that category. So I don’t have to quick edit each and every post (just one post in each category).
