• My site was hacked…

Now I can’t even login via the wp-login. I can’t exactly figure out what to do but there’s some sort of redirect that’s pointing to this stupid Russian site or something.

What do I do about it?

I have a backup of the site from two weeks ago prior to the hack….but even that doesn’t work.

Whelp…I tried changing my password through mysql and now I get a “error establishing a database connection.”

Remain calm and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.

Note, after changing the password in the database, you need to enter that new password into the wp-config.php file.

    How do I do that?

    I looked over that guide…might actually work if I could login… I can’t access the wp-admin.

I entered the same new password in the wp-config.php file where it says,

    ‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘Iputthepasswordhere’

    No go.

Follow the guide linked to, there are many things to do which do not require logging in.

If you did edit the wp-config.php file properly, double-check the rest of the connection details. If they are correct, you’ll need to ask your hosting provider why your database is offline.
