After Recent Update, Orders Disappear

Since updating the plugin yesterday, we noticed that we had gotten multiple Order #88s. When looking in the Orders dashboard, it looks like only the most recent order shows as order #88 – all other orders with that order number have been overridden.
So I’m thinking the issue is that the order numbers are no longer progressing. It is stuck at Order #88, and it is going to be overwritten every time someone makes a purchase. This is disastrous for our e-commerce company.
