I’m currently running a blog of ‘event reviews’ (using blix) with a link to a static page of ‘event listings’. I’d like to redesign my site so my main page is an ‘event listings’ blog and one of my nav bar links goes to my (already existing) ‘reviews’ blog. I’m not quite sure about the best way to start this.
Should I move my current ‘reviews’ blog to a subfolder and do a fresh install for the ‘listings’ blog in my main directory? Or should I keep my current blog where it is and create a subfolder for the new one? And is there a benefit to having them in a single database vs two?
And just to make it more interesting, is there anyway to make my search function search both of them?
Sorry if that’s too many questions for one post. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • 1. Regarding which blog do you want in a subfolder – it depends solely on how do you organize (manage) your content.
    2. There is no difference in having them in two separate DBs or in one (with different prefixes). I run multiple blogs from the same DB.
    3. With WP’s built-in search you cannot serach both blogs in the same time.
