Try adding the plugin ‘WPsmush.it’. This compresses the images you use.
Another good plugin which may help is WP Super Cache, which (like Smush.it) requires no work on your part, simply plug and play, it’ll speed things up.
But I see from your site that the main problem is large image files, Maybe someone else can come up with further solutions to help you…
Good luck!
Oh – to add plugins, go to ‘Plugins’ on the side bar in your dashboard, click it. Then on the page that comes up, click ‘Add new’ by the title, then type the above plugin names into the search box.
Then just click install and follow the simple instructions.
IMO you really need to add pages. that ammount of big photos at one page is nuts
Jym, thanks for those suggestions and plugins! I’ll be following up on those for sure :).
TheSweede, thanks for your suggestion on pages. I’m not really sure how pages work versus new posts. I was trying to give it a blog-like feel. I’ll look more into this.
Any other suggestions are welcome :). I spent all this time, money, and energy into ProPhoto Blogs, hosting, domain to show off my large photo sizes and now they won’t load. I’m a frustrated newbie LOL.
It doesn’t make sense to have large pictures resolution wise. Most displays use 72 or 96 dpi at best so while the photos can be large in dimensions they should be low in dpi for viewing.
If you are using a program like photoshop you can adjust the dpi and see there is no difference on the screen. Lowering dpi helps in another way also – if someone whats to capture and print your photo a low dpi will not produce good results because in printing you want the highest dpi the printer will handle.
[Edit]Also check your theme support – http://www.prophotoblogs.com/forum/index.php?/topic/289-photo-loading-speed/page__p__751__hl__slow+loading__fromsearch__1#entry751
Some of these errors may also slow your site down, http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3a%2f%2ftworiffic.ca%2f
thanks Kmessinger, that is really helpful
I think I’m going to start over and try again :). Thanks for all the suggestions!
