    I am hosting my own wordpress site at vinylthief.com. It was working just fine until a few days ago. When I logged in, it was like my status as admin had been lost because the only options I have are my dashboard and then profile options. It defaults me to my profile settings. Here’s a screenshot of what it looks like right when I log in. Screenshot.

    I have tried disabling and resetting all plug-ins. And i re-uploaded fresh copies of wp-admin and wp-includes.

    I have been looking all over the internet for help, and I hope I am missing a simple solution somewhere.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    thanks guys

  • If your admin capabilities have been removed and your user profile is still showing you as an admin, you can try editing the database to restore your capabilities.

    Access your database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel), go to the wp_users table and find the row for your user_login . Note the ID of this row. Now, go to the wp_usermeta table and find the wp_capabilities row for your user_id . Set the value of this row to

    a:1:{s:13:"administrator";b:1;}

    If that works, then you’d need to check out why your capabilities disappeared. It could have been a plugin (role modification plugins most likely) or a hack attempt (you’d probably see other admin users that you don’t recognise.)

    Thanks man!

    Worked perfectly. I don’t think it was a hack attempt, so i’m going to assume it was a plugin.

    You’re the man.
