Adding tabs/pages to long "recent posts"

Hi all,
I’ve googled everything I can think of, hoping you guys can help.

I have a “recent posts” widget which extends way down my page. I could set it to show only so many posts but then my readers have no clear/easy way of getting to the rest of them.

Is there a way to add numbered tabs or pages or even a “read more” link? Ideally something that would just load the remaining posts in place of the old ones.

This is my first attempt at wordpress. Not so good at code yet so if anyone knows a plug-in thats best, but I’ll give code a shot if its a solution.
