Adding script to the loop

Howdy all,
The theme I’m using doesn’t have a page.php script, so I grabbed one from a different theme. Now I’m trying to figure out how to add the page.php script to the loop. Just putting it in the same directory as my theme doesn’t do anything.
I want to include the page.php script in my current theme because <!–nextpage–> doesn’t work with the theme I’m using. After reading some post it seems the mission page.php is the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
