• I cannot download themes directly to my blog by using the Add New Themes option in the Appearance sub-menu because this option is missing. I could manage themes but I cannot install themes, because Install Themes is missing, but Manage Themes is not. This is strange.

  • Is this a self-hosted site or a wordpress.com site?

    This is a wordpress.org site.

To specific this is a wordpress.org site hosted through Dreamhost. I’m sure it’s not wordpress.com. I hope this clarify things. If there’s any additional information that is needed to resolve this issue, I’ll try my best to post them.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

The plug-ins were already deactivated. The twenty ten theme was already the chosen theme and switching back and forth from it didn’t change a thing. The plug-ins folder in my PhpMyAdmin or the folders in general were fine. I deleted this wordpress application and then re-installed it as an application again. There is another error which was apparent as well, in my tools section, the option to upgrade was missing. I’m mentioning this to see if this can help with understanding what the problem could actually be.
