What is the size shown on the Media library pages?
e.g.
image.jpg (source image) 100kb
image-768×256,jpg 38kb
on the Media library I get URL, size and preview of image.jpg.
image-768×256.jpg seems a ghost!
If I upload an image (in this case a “vertical image”) with width greater than 1600, I get 2 more images:
image-768×1365.jpg 89kb
image-1568×2788.jpg 323kb
image.jpg 1,2mb
the size of the source image is intentionally large for “demonstration purposes”..
I don’t understand how I can disable this duplicated images..

When you say that you “disabled the creation of thumbnails from Settings > Media”, what does that mean? WordPress (and plugins and theme) creates images when you upload.
Maybe what you need is to use a plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/dynamic-image-resizer/
What is the problem you are trying to solve?
I have set it in Settings > Media
Thumbnails size 0 x 0
Medium size 0 x 0
Large size 0 x 0
in order not to create duplicate images that I will not use.
When I upload an image, it creates another one, as I write before .. I thought it was a bug, but if it’s necessary for WordPress, that’s fine!
