You looked at your profile where exactly? Was this at your wordpress.com account? That’s where you need to get it from. Do note that your account at wordpress.com is not connected with any account here or at a blog located elsewhere. You’ll have to create a new one at wp.com and choose the “Just an account” option when you do so.
If you’re looking at your wordpress.com profile page and you’re not seeing the API key (ie that section is blank), drop an email to support at wordpress dot com and ask for help. be sure to do it from the email account you created your wp.com account from.
hi
i have my own domain and i have hosted wordpress. I wanted to activate akismat spam protection so i created wordpress.com account, get API key and activated aksimat protection.
after sometime, i downloaded WP-STAT plugin. i wanted to activate it. so i entered the same API key but it is not working and contstantly showing message on top. I created another wordpress.com account and has pasted another API key but that is also not working. 🙁
what is the problem in that ? what is the guideline for self-hosted blogs on own domain to activate WP-STATS ?
can any one please help ?
Thanks “the apparatus” for your response. I found out I just needed to open a WP account. I have hosted WP through a third party server. That is why I didn’t have an API initially.
I was able to install my API key and the Stats plugin works great. I’m very pleased.
Thanks to all who responded to my string.
