• I’d like to bring this to the developers’ attention.

A visually impaired user encountered an accessibility issue while entering card information (card number, date, and CVV fields). Upon entering information into each field, the cursor automatically jumps to the next field without the associated label being spoken by the screen reader. This feature aims to streamline user input by auto-navigating between fields, it could be posing a challenge for some visually impaired users.

Due to the absence of additional information from the customer, it remains unclear if this issue is common.

    Additional Information:

    • Browser and platform used by the user: Google Chrome on PC.
    • Tested site accessibility using Apple VoiceOver, reporting no issues.
    • Accessibility tests (Lighthouse, Wave) flagged the absence of titles in the Square iframes but nothing else of significance.

    Hello @cmatter,

Thank you so much for reaching out!

A visually impaired user encountered an accessibility issue while entering card information (card number, date, and CVV fields). Upon entering information into each field, the cursor automatically jumps to the next field without the associated label being spoken by the screen reader.

I tried placing a test order using Mac VoiceOver, and it’s reading out the Card number, CVV, and ZIP correctly when the pointer lands on them. Only the expiry date field is labelled as just data, which I agree isn’t helpful. Could you please check if my findings align with what you see from your end?

Given that all the card fields are being added via a Square iFrame, I’m not sure if any adjustments can be made from the WooCommerce side of things. I’ll make sure to notify the team about this for further investigation.

Look forward to hearing back from you,
