• I was trying to update my WordPress and I screwed it up bad. I know it’s a long shot, but does anyone want to take a look and see if it is something that can be fixed? http://www.notbecky.net

I tried to restore it with the files I backed up, but I still get the errors, and I can’t get into the dashboard either.

I wish I could give you more, but I have no idea what on earth I did.

Can you get to /wp-admin/plugins.php ? If you can, disable all active plugins. If you can’t, backup your plugins directory, then delete all of the plugins that are in there.

When you try to restore, are you deleting the old files first ?

Have you deleted everything inside /wp-admin and /wp-includes and re-uploaded from a fresh download of WP ?

It would also help to know what version you were upgrading from.

Okay… got it back up and running, sort of. Thanks for all the help so far!

Now when I try to edit a post I get this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_post() in /home/notbeck/public_html/wp-admin/post.php on line 224

I also found that if I try to change the options, I get this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: wp_redirect() in /home/notbeck/public_html/wp-admin/options.php on line 87

Does anyone have any ideas on this one?

I have tried reinstalling the wp-admin/post.php and it didn’t help. I am not sure waht to do beyond that.

You’re running into quite a few undefined functions. I recommend disabling all active plugins and re-installing the /wp-includes/ directory.

I just tried that (thanks for the suggestion!!!) and I ended up with a white screen that just said:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: auth_redirect() in /home/notbeck/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php on line 8

    Any other suggestions? šŸ™‚

I’m not sure if this means anything, but for some reason on the plug ins page, the user level plug in is now highlighted green.

Just thought I would mention it.

Green = active, at least in non-IE browsers.

Okay… thanks. I am using FF, so that explains that mystery! šŸ™‚

Now… if only the others were so easy…..

Can anyone help me with this?

NotBecky – if you email me I will try to get things working for you.
I would need a cpanel login / ftp information and a description of the current situation.

I have a similar problem. I just upgraded my blog to 1.5.1.3. After getting over some initial troubles, I have the blog working, I could post an entry too, but when I try to edit an existing entry, this is what I get:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_post() in /home/virtual/site237/fst/var/www/html/chittha/wp-admin/post.php on line 224

I tried disabling plugins. I emptied and re-uploaded the wp-admin and wp-includes folders, but nothing seems to work. Help please!!!!

Never mind! I worked it out. Thanks anyway.

Would you mind posting your solution? There are already threads with similar problems and it would be great to let them know how to solve it.
