    Hello,
I tested lots of WP plugins to create a quiz website. And I was very happy to find your plugin, because it was exactly what I wanted. I have been testing it for a few days, and I found a bug.
Here is the description of the bug:
    – It happens when I use the tool “Question CSV Uploader”.
    – I uploaded a text file (with names of towns in French) of 27 lignes, and I found 20 lines (= questions, with 1 in duplicate) in the database.
    – I tried again with another file of 60 lignes (juste numbers), and I found 42 lignes (questions) in the database.

So, I analyzed the bug, thinking it was due to the classic “‘” or to the French accents. But it was not that.

I found it happened during the download. And it’s a bit strange.
    – Line 2 is in duplicate (texte or numbers)
    – Lines 4, 7 ,10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 21… are missing (1 line on 3, except the second one).

I hope that with all these clues, you can solve the bug.

Thanks again for your excellent work !

    Michel

PS : I’m testing with small files, because I have another file with 8100 questions (= lines).

Maybe you’ll find in the same time the solution to other problems seen on the forum with the keyword “duplicate” (not due to the quiz, but due to the upload tool).

Can you please send me an example of the CSV file? This is almost certainly a formatting issue. I can take a look and see if I notice anything off.

Also, make sure to delete the uploaded questions/quizzes before trying to reupload again or you will get duplicates.

    Hello,

I’m quasi sure the bug is not due to my files. It happened 3 times, and I deleted the first file (and erase all the data in wp_posts and wp_postmeta MySQL, because I tried many quiz scripts). I created a second file different from the 2 others.
Like you did not give your e-mail address, I uploaded the files here :
    http://www.ooxo.com/wp-content/uploads/QR_test.csv
    http://www.ooxo.com/wp-content/uploads/capitales_europe.csv
I created the files on an iMac (Mac user since 1985), with OpenOffice and Smultron. Maybe the “return” characters are not accepted by MySQL ? But I’m not really a beginner.

    I also took screenshots.

    Thanks for sending the CSV,
I can confirm that I am seeing something similar to what you described as well.

I’ll take a deeper dive today and get back to you with anything I find 🙂

Yes… If I were a “Québecois”, my nickname could be “oeil de lynx”. I always see what’s wrong ! It’s like a curse.

I think I may have tracked down a bug that would affect your CSV (so the issue was 100% on my end, not yours).

I just pushed a minor update to HD Quiz that should address this use case.

Please wait ~15 minutes for the update to be fully active in the WordPress repository, then deactivate and delete HD Quiz, and reinstall from the repository as normal. This will ensure you are getting a nice and shiny new copy of the plugin.

Also, please let me know if this works for you. Merci pour votre temps et votre aide

    Hello,
Everything is OK now. The questions are loaded one by one instead of 3 by 3.
Thanks a lot. I have another suggestion to improve the admin section of this quiz plugin. But I’ll describe it in another post.
    Michel

Please I have v1.8.1 but same issue. Which version was this fixed on?

    Hi isaac2k2,
as I said in the last message

So just reinstall from the repository and you should be good to go

OK thanks please will I loose all my quiz already created or is there a way for me to back them up. Thanks

nope! You will not lose any data doing this. Your quizzes and questions will still be there. If you want to be extra safe, then I recommend exporting the questions using the default WordPress export tool (found under tools -> export in the WP admin area)

Still same issue and even worse now. Before it could import 15 out of 20 but now same data and only imports 8

Since there was a change, it sounds like you just need to clear your browser cache. Sometimes browsers can be super aggressive with not reloading proper assets.

Please clear your browser cache and try the import again then let me know

Ah apologies for that. I should have known that. All good now and thanks very much.

No worries; glad it’s working for you!
