• HELP.

Since installing WordPress using Fantastico through my webhost, all links to internal pages refer to my 404 page. Doesn’t matter what they are…”About,” “Contact,” “Recent posts”…they lead to a dead end.

Even the Preview button on the screen for editing pages, posts, etc. goes to a 404.

External links function just fine (ie, links to other websites).

Anyone have a solution for this? Word of warning, I’m not a coder, so please keep this simple. I started trying to set up 2.6 last weekend, and had this problem–still unresolved–but hoped 2.7 would fix it. At the urging of my webhost, I’ve even uninstalled then reinstalled 2.7 (again, using Fantastico), but no joy. The 404 still pops up for everything but external links.

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • ok, i think i figured this out.
the problem is based on your permalink structure and this changes when you install 2.7.
log into your blog, go to settings, then permalinks. check the default setting (i assume this is what you were using) and save. everything should work again. if not, try the other options.

    hope that helps.
