• Is there ANYBODY out there that can use the automatic plugin upgrade/install in WordPress 2.7?

I always get a permission issue about something in wp-settings (line 465), which then permeates into several other ‘include’ warnings/errors. I have to delete the plugin, then go back to the Plugins Screen in Administration where it says the plugin has been deactivated because of an error. I then delete the folder out of wp-content/plugins, and install it MANUALLY and it usually clears all of the errors.

There is a CRITICAL issue with this functionality and it is utter crap that nobody seems to have responded with a solution or acknowledgment of the issue. I’m surely not going to put everything at 777, as that seems to have worked for some.

    Thoughts?

  • Yes, don’t multi post. If the auto install is not working what do you do? You do a normal install/upgrade. The mission is to get your blog up and running not to screw around with questions.

Do you want your blog up? Then follow the instructions for install/upgrade and stop wasting our time. :^(

That’s quite an attitude to take considering that this is a strictly volunteer effort, and to compund things you made 5 posts of the same question.

How about you go to the home page for the plug-in author and ask him if it is upgraded to work with v 2.7? Too much trouble? Then how about you forget the damned thing and – as kmessinger suggests – do it properly by using your FTP program?

Dont get so harsh man. He is asking for help. 🙂 May be his way of aksing is wrong…

What error are you getting? If it is a permission error, are you using corret FTP details? Also, most of the folder in wordpress needs 755 and files 644. However, some files need more than 644 (not 777 of corse). So it depends upon the plugin. Check your FTP details and also, if you can provide the exact error message.. we can help you better.
