Hi, can you provide more information about the following comment.
What this means is that when people try to sign up to my site with a paid subscription, and their accounts have 2FA enabled, they encounter a generic “Sorry – we could not handle your request at this time” error.
Thank you
Hi, can you provide more information about the following comment.
If a PayPal user has 2-Factor Authentication (i.e. ‘send me an SMS code to confirm payment’) enabled on their account, they are returned with an error after entering their 2-Factor (SMS) code.
For example: When I made a purchase for a subscription on my PayPal account, which has 2-FA enabled, I receive my SMS code, entered it, and then received an error message from paypal, saying “Sorry – We could not handle your request at this time.”
When I made a purchase for a subscription on my other PayPal account, which does not have 2-FA enabled, I was able to pay for the subscription, and register an account successfully, without any error codes.
I had the exact same issue with the PaidMemberSubscription (PMS) plugin, which was confirmed by PayPal and the PMS team. They informed me that they have no immediate plans to support 2FA payments from paypal, which is why I switched to Simple Membership plugin instead; hoping that it would support 2FA paypal payments.
Hi, thank you for providing a more thorough explanation.
My question, are you referring to the 2FA when login into your PayPal account? I also have that security set up in my PayPal account and I don’t have an issue buying a product online.
In regards to the following.

Are you saying that when you pay using your PayPal account and you try to log in to make a payment and when you receive your 2-FA code. You enter this code and then you receive the error message you mentioned above. Have you contacted PayPal about this error?
Did you use a laptop, smartphone or tablet when you carried out your test?
My question, are you referring to the 2FA when login into your PayPal account?
Yes.
Are you saying that when you pay using your PayPal account and you try to log in to make a payment and when you receive your 2-FA code. You enter this code and then you receive the error message you mentioned above.
Yes.
Have you contacted PayPal about this error?
Yes, they have informed me that this occurs when plugins do not support 2FA.
Weird.
Thank you for reporting back. The plugin developers will investigate further your issue.
Kind regards
PayPal user using 2FA for their PayPal account should not interfere with the subscription processing of our plugin at all.
We simply use the standard PayPal subscription. So we let PayPal process and charge the subscription for the user then PayPal just sends the plugin a notification.
Our plugin doesn’t directly charge the PayPal account. So it is not affected by any kind of authentication that that user maybe using on their account.
I personally use it and I have MANY subscribers. I never saw this as an issue. So do let me know if I am missing something.
