    hi,

i’m lookin for a theme that allows me to show my blogs in a table of 2 by 2.

the newest blog would be in the left hand corner, the next one to the right of it. in the lower row it would continue on the left side again and the oldest one would be in the right hand corner.

ideally there is a tab to see the next ten blogs, or 20 or all.

reading a blog it should showcase the entire blog by itself in the page layout.

or could this easily be done just by changing the default design?

    thanks for any advice.

  • The Hemingway bright looks similar to what you want – though I have no idea how the posts are arranged in the “table” πŸ˜‰
    Try it.

    hi moshu,

looks pretty much what i need.

just need to get pictures incoporated in the blogs on the index page.

if i want to have the header and the bottom in an frame that should not be too much of an issue. or is this more than just changing one or two files in the template?!

haven’t really deared to look at it. i have basic knowledge in html. i’m just afraid of the links as i have to reference them for which frame to apply for!

    any comment on this?! anyone!?

    thanks,

oh BTW, it shows four blogs exactly the way i was hoping for!!!

    You mean four posts πŸ™‚
I’d suggest forget the iframes. Why would you want them? And you will not get any support here for frames… most of the helpers either hate them or just are not interested to deal with frames.
Is there any particular reason you are planning those monster frames?

    hi moshu,

i have worked around the frames almost. i think i can live without them.

i have an old page that i developed in php, but it is not offering the ease as more and more friends are joining my “blog”… and not everyone knows how to handle some of my scripts (well things that i have put together…).

one other thing. how can i make an excerpt shorter?! i found the the_excerpt() function but i understand that i cannot use any parameters in this function. where do i limit it for example to 200 characters?!

thanks again for all the help!

You could modify the code in the core files, but that’s not a good thing… so, I’d recommend using this plugin:

    hi moshu and sadish,

    thanks for all your help.

i have figured most of my issues and i’m just finalizing my layout with the_excerpt_reloaded plug in.

unfortunately it doesn’t seem to work.

i have edited the index.php of the hemingway bright template and replaced the_excerpt with the_excerpt_reloaded. this was the only change. however it is not limiting the lenght of my entries. (i replaced it once before the_excerpt with the_content and this worked fine!)

i have activated the plug-in (i deactivated it for a test and i got an error message on the index page that it cannot find the function).

i left all settings as they were. my text is longer than 120 characters…

    what else?

i do not know what went wrong.

sadish, perhaps you have tried to implement this plug-in already.

    again, thanks for any feedback.

    Re: plugin.
Did you read the instructions and did you use the proper parameters for the plugin tag?

No.. I havent tried this plugin before. did u make sure, the plugin works with the latest version of wp ?

    thanks for the help!

the limitation for 120 characters in the reload function is 120 words! so taking it down to something like 30 makes the blogs shorter.

it works fine with hemmingway bright.
