    Hi

    I am trying to send a backup via FTP.

    I have added the FTP details and when I click test I can see that it creates a file in the FTP site, however it is a 0kb file and the test does not complete. If I run a full backup job, again it creates a 0kb file and the backup fails at this point.

    I have to use Active Mode, as Passive mode I get an error on testing saying it can login but cannot create a file in the directory. I can upload files using FileZilla without a problem.

    Where is the issue here?

    Hi Jonathan,

    This indicates that there is a firewall in between the webserver and FTP server which is blocking the ‘data’ channel of the FTP transaction, whilst permitting the ‘control’ channel.

    Thanks for your help David.

    I spoke to our web host and they had to add a firewall exception.

    All sorted now!
