• I’ve tried searching for an answer to this, but without luck.

If I remove the contact form from my website (I already give my email), and search box (I can live without that as well) do I really need SSL? I don’t take any payments or ask for any other customer information, but do plugins like social media ‘like’ buttons etc count?

And what about when I login to my site myself as admin? Is Google still going to show the ‘site not secure’ message to visitors because of these things?

    Thanks for your help!

  • It’s not necessary to use SSL if you’re not asking for any payments or contact information from someone on your website but having SSL on your website helps a lot in your rankings on Google and increases trust to the visitor about your website.

Yes, Google will still show ‘site not secure’ message to visitors. I would recommend you to use SSL. There are no side-effects of using an SSL.
You can get a free SSL Certificate. Just visit sslforfree.com and get yours!

    I hope this helps.
