• Resolved sprocker

    (@sprocker)

Hi, I added wordfence to a site and all seemed OK.

This morning the site would not load. Narrowed it down to the WordFence plugin. Removed it and try to re-install but not able to activate it due to a 504 error.

I changed the theme to Twenty Seventeen and removed all other plugins, tried php 5.6 and 7.0 but still got the 504 error.

I even tried moving the site to another host, but still the sale 504 error.

What can I do to resolve this?

  • Hi @sprocker,

Can you confirm that the owner of the “wp-content/wflogs” folder is the same user the Web server runs as?

Are you able to access the site if you delete the “wflogs/” folder (which will be automatically recreated when the first visit occurs)? Do you notice a change in ownership for that specific folder?

wflog was the root of my problem, I could not delete so I renamed and then the plugin activated without issue.

    Many thanks for your help,
    Deb
