WP Not redirecting to HTTP from HTTPS if no certificate

    I just noticed that my WP sites that don’t have an SSL certificate are not being redirected to HTTP if someone enters HTTPS in the URL. Both the “WordPress Address (URL)” and “Site Address (URL)” are set to HTTP but the site is not being redirected away from HTTPS.

    This results in warning messages from browsers and potential duplicate content.

    The reverse happens. If the settings have HTTPS WP automatically redirects to HTTPS even if someone manually enters HTTP.

    I don’t want to go through 40+ websites manually adding a redirect to htaccess. I would have thought WP would redirect to match the URL settings.

    Is there a solution or do I need to manually correct this via htacess?
