Duplicator Error – SQL file size too low

I have tried repeatedly to generate the install and archive files to migrate my WP site from my localhost (Mamp on Mac). It fails at the Host Build Interrupt stage. I get the same problem if I attempt a two part install packaging just the database.

SQL file size too low.

The site isn’t huge or complex & works fine locally in Mamp. I used Duplicator on a different site last year with no problems at all. I’ve googled plenty but feel I am hitting my head against a brick wall! Do you have any suggestions for what I can try please?
