(It should be noted that I have reverted my version to see if that was the issue, it WAS at 4.9 earlier today).

So I installed a plugin which crashed the site. I updated the WP version to the latest version using Godaddy’s Control panel and also brought the PHP up to the latest version that their server had (which wasn’t the most current at all).

This brought my site back up, but with errors on the top of the page (And it has a “WARNING” at the top of the page which reads something about Parse_str(): input variables exceeded 0… it won’t let me copy the text for some reason… which is very irritating )

But when I click on the Log in button I get the error “The Password Field is empty”

I’ve been using my Edge browser because it doesn’t have my passwords memorized, but I made sure to clear my cookies and cache before trying this anyway. I have to manually type the username and password into the fields in Edge (As opposed to Chrome which has it memorized).

Anyway, clearly the plugin was the problem, so I went in and removed the offending plugin using FTP, but that has not solved the problem (I did clear the cache and removed the cookies and made sure I was using Edge which did not memorize the passwords).

I also get a “503 server unavailable” error about 50% of the time which requires a refresh to submit the page.

I saw the previous post from a few years ago and made sure I followed all of those steps, I think this plugin (The new Patreon plugin) may have done something to the login?

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • Hi @aabhnormal,

Did you ask GoDaddy about the issue yet? They may be able to pin-point what’s causing the 503 issue.

Alternatively, try to reinstall WordPress with a fresh copy.

    Hi @aabhnormal,

As @dipakcg noted you should contact GoDaddy and have them check what is going on with your PHP configuration.

    The full warning message is

Warning: parse_str(): Input variables exceeded 0. To increase the limit change max_input_vars in php.ini. in /home/content/07/8118407/html/RMGT/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 4335

If you feel comfortable, you may want to take a look at your php.ini file. Change max_input_vars to 2000. This GoDaddy help page may help you.

Hi guys, first of all: thank you for the responses! 🙂 Especially on the holidays… I know it’s kinda wild here at my place, I appreciate you taking the time to help me out here. 🙂

I did contact Godaddy initially and they were saying they would be willing to fix the problem at a cost of $80 an hour to me… but that was for any issue with the WordPress site. The 503 errors are certainly something they are responsible for (In my opinion).

@alichani : I shall attempt that now and see if that helps. And thank you for copying that in here… I don’t know why I could now copy/paste the line in here…

I went on ahead and downloaded the site to my computer local (so I can edit the files with good ol’ notepad) but I can’t seem to find a php.ini file… I can find the “Formatting.php” file, but of course Notepad doesn’t tell me what line things are on, so that’s a little challenging, I’m not sure what it wants me to change to… I couldn’t find “php.ini” in formatting.php, nor could I find “max_input_vars”… which may be my problem… o.O

Well, it looks like the site has reset in some way… it was restored to a version about 6 months ago automatically, so though not the best outcome, I can log in and work the site again. So we are resolved. I’m not sure why this happened. I’m assuming the 503 error that was affecting the other sites was an issue and Godaddy bumped my website back to a previous state. Anyway, thanks for helping me out! 🙂
